Purpose of the Position:
:Management of the Batch House Department which includes line performance, overall production results, operations teams and support for both glass manufacturing and development.
:Achieve safety, cost, quality and delivery targets.
:Provide supervision to operators, including effective management of key resources and overall talent management objectives.
:Supervise and provide coaching/direction to personnel in the department. This will be completed by setting expectations and holding personnel accountable.
:Effectively communicate and drive plant objectives to operators in the manufacturing environment.
:Monitor and respond to key manufacturing performance metrics (OEE, cost, spend variance, output).
:Drive a culture in line with PCPD principles.
:Effectively support the plant's mission to develop and advance products/processes while being a low cost manufacturer.
:Support and drive batch house improvements and upgrades required to continue to position Vineland production needs.
:Optimize and continually improve performance of operations by building and maintaining close relationships with support groups (Hot End, maintenance, engineering, and Quality).
:Build support for change through ongoing clear communications of rationale.
:Deploy positive employee relations strategy and communicate openly and honestly with employees at all levels.
:Identify, analyze, and resolve employee issues and grievances within a Union environment.
:Execute and/or champion cost reduction and PEx projects (DMAIC, DESIGN, Lean) in line with business objectives.
:Establish and define expectations for manufacturing competencies within the department.
:Communicate and report department progress
:Ensure adherence to Corning's Intellectual Asset Protection (IAP).
:Model Corning Values and Code of Conduct.
:Adhere to national and local safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations. Effective application of rules within plant operations.
:Standard hours (M:F 8:5)
:Flexible hours may be required to support manufacturing.
:Possible Weekend Team coverage on a rotating basis.
Education and Experience:
:3 years of successful and proven supervisory, team leader and/or section supervisor experience in a manufacturing plant environment.
:Experience developing, implementing and driving results for MBO's and manufacturing line metrics.
:Proven capability to manage, coach, and direct employees, training in employee effectiveness, conflict resolution, coaching and supervisory effectiveness.
:Training, understanding and demonstrated competence in cost accounting and managing for profitability.
:Trained and experienced in fundamentals of safety and health.
:Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions.
:Results oriented and high commitment.
:Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast:paced manufacturing environment. Must be able to organize many work streams (suppliers, contractors, customers, etc.).
