Job Summary 13;
The Senior Pharmacist is responsible for Coordinate and schedule appropriate staff to provide optimal pharmaceutical support to Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia patients in a safe, cost effective, appropriate and efficacious fashion. Reviews and process medication orders using the hospital information system (HIS) and the pharmacy computer system to ensure that the medication is appropriate in terms of dose, dosage form, route of administration, frequency, duration of therapy, and patients disease state. Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure that pharmacy products are prepared and distributed accurately, with the appropriate quantity and at the time the product is needed. When necessary, the pharmacist prepares and distributes pharmacy product accurately, in the appropriate quantity and at the time the product is needed. In concert with Compliance Pharmacy, conduct audits/tracers as identified annually by Pharmacy Administration to assess compliance to department/hospital, policy and procedures, JCAHO standards, DEA regulations, and state/federal laws.

Staff Scheduling
:Coordinate and schedule appropriate staff to provide optimal pharmaceutical support to Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia patients in a safe, cost effective, appropriate and efficacious fashion.
:Prepare staffing schedule based on projected workload, budgeted FTE and overtime, two (2) months in advance.
:Prepare new employee training/orientation schedule in concert with Pharmacy Educator.
:Coordinate staff PPL request and approval.
:Monitor/Analyze/Report Lateness/UPPL.

In concert with Compliance Pharmacist, assist to monitor the compliance to established Hospital and Departmental Policy and Procedures. Monitors performance of core pharmacy processes.
:Achieve proficiency in JCAHO Standards, CHOP Patient Care Manual, CHOP Pharmacy Policy and Procedure, DEA.
:Provide data and analysis of compliance to establish hospital and departmental policy and procedure including USP797, JCAHO standards, DEA regulations, state and federal law.
:Provide data and analysis of performance of core pharmacy processes.
:Conduct audits/tracers as identified annually by Pharmacy Administration to assess compliance to department/hospital, policy and procedures, JCAHO standards, DEA regulations, and state/federal laws.
:Provide data and analysis for employee performance evaluations, lean initiatives, and other quality improvement initiatives.
:Review, assess and update the P and P manuals reflects the activities of the pharmacy.
:Conduct mock inspections to assess overall compliance after each audit. Ensure pharmacys policy and procedure manual is in compliance to DEA, Board of Pharmacy, and Board of Health.
:Review and analyze IR within 72 hours of notification.
:Present analysis of IR in the Pharmacy Administrative Meeting, the Pharmacy Quality and Standards Council. 13;

:Review medication orders for potential allergic reactions, drug interactions, therapeutic duplication, and potential drug incompatibilities 100 of all medication orders.
:Ensure PRN medication orders contain indications and documented 100 of time.
:For medication orders that are outside the normal range, ensure reason and rationale for use is appropriate and documented in pharmacy intervention record.
