Job Summary 13;
Part time position. Schedule: Day/ evening and a Saturday rotation.
In collaboration with an attending physician, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the direct care and follow:up of a population of patients that matches his/her scope of practice and skill set. The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, education, and research.
The Nurse Practitioner practices under the guidelines of the Division of Sedation/Radiology. Health care services provided by Nurse practitioners in the Division of Sedation/Radiology include but are not limited to the following:

Assessment and Diagnosis
:Obtain comprehensive health histories
:Perform physical examinations
:Order and interpret screening and laboratory tests
:Order and interpret common diagnostic procedures
:Assess patients presenting for procedures requiring sedation and/or anesthesia
:Formulate a family centered health care plan

:Treat patients according to the guidelines of the Division of Radiology/Sedation
:Prescribe medications related to acute and chronic disorders according to the guidelines of the formulary of The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia
:Prescribe sedation medications for painful and motionless procedures as dictated by delineation of privileges.
:Perform pre:sedation history and physical examinations
:Provide patient/family education regarding purpose, regimens and side effects and possible interactions of medications and/or treatments.
:Provide any other appropriate interventions within the parameters, expertise and knowledge of the NP
:Provide appropriate post:sedation care
:Consult with physicians and other health care providers when necessary
:Coordinate patient care and make appropriate referrals
:Identify community resources and coordinate referrals for problems beyond the scope of practice
:Advocate for patients and their families

:Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of prescribed treatment plans
:Monitor child and family response to treatments
:Modify interventions based on effectiveness, evidence:based practice and individual child and family needs
:Monitor effectiveness of practice

:Utilizes advanced assessment skills to manage a cohort of patients. Performs and documents daily assessments. Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family:centered plan of care.
:Performs any needed advanced procedures that are listed in the Scope of Practice Document and approved as a part of the credentialing process.
:Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan. Using the most current evidence, modifies the plan of care based on the effectiveness of the treatment and the patient/family response to the plan.
:Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff, and provider team. Acts as a consultant to multidisciplinary health care team members.
:Participates in scholarly activities including research and education. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings. Participates in the professional development of others. Acts as a preceptor and mentor to support the development of nurses, nurse practitioners, students, and other health care providers.
:Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practice to enhance safety. Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms. Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice. 13;
