Job Summary 13;
Under the direction of the CHOP MMB Director and Medical Director (as well as the CHOP MMB Advisory Board (AB)), the CHOP MMB Coordinator is responsible for the development and oversight of the clinical operational strategies for CHOP MMB. This position assists the in strategic planning and implementing organizational procedures and processes, including analysis of opportunities for expanding the CHOP MMB scope. The incumbent is responsible for knowledge:driven outcomes management; advanced clinical practice; and education to staff, donors, recipients, volunteers and the community. Additionally, the CHOP MMB Coordinator will serve under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor of the CHOP Lactation Program and Human Milk Management Center as well as the Manager of the Lactation Program to fulfill responsibilities directly related to the daily operations of the Lactation Program.
Job Responsibilities 13;
Strategic Plan
:Delivers safe, compassionate, and culturally effective care
:Responsible for implementing clinical goals and objectives set by the CHOP MMB AB in the CHOP MMBs strategic plan
:Identifies clinical areas requiring planning; develops and recommends goals, objectives and action plans; submits to Director for necessary approval
:Works with Director and Medical Director to recommend new policies, programs, and action plans consistent with the vision of the CHOP MMB
:Integrates knowledge of organizational mission, goals, and systems into all facets of milk bank clinical operations

:Communicates and escalates as needed to the Director and Medical Director, as well as the CHOP MMB AB
:Facilitates the process of donation with mothers of inpatients through collaboration with the multi:professional health care team
:Communicates daily with the pasteurization technicians
:Communicates daily with the Lactation Program team members including but not limited to: Program Manager, Clinical Supervisor, IBCLCs, and student workers

Financial Management
Effectively manages clinical resources to maintain quality in a cost:effective manner
:Maintain and supervise income to the Lactation Program including but not limited to transactions for Lactation Rental Equipment and the purchase of Educational DVDs

Development and Growth
Collaborates with community organizations to raise healthcare provider and community awareness of the benefits of human milk, the CHOP Lactation Program and the CHOP MMB
Represents the CHOP MMB and CHOP Lactation at professional conferences through informational booths and presentations
Represents the CHOP as a member of appropriate organizations
:Mentors students and staff of lactation related fields and new/developing milk banks in the clinical aspects of milk banking

Job Responsibilities (Continued) 13;
Clinical Operations

Responsible for the management of all clinical practices at the CHOP MMB including:ensuring quality of donated milk through donor screening, oversight of pasteurization process, microbiology testing, storage and shipping of milk in accordance with Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA) guidelines
Contributes to the design, implementation and evaluation of the effectiveness of donor screening, receipt of donor milk, handling, pasteurization, storage, and shipping processes and procedures
Screen all potential donors and log donors information in the database
Follow up with all donors through the donation process (screening, interview form, blood work, donation)
Reviews donor screening records and test results, approves qualified donors and counsels potential donors who do not qualify
Assemble donor information packets as needed
Logs incoming milk into the database as required and ensures appropriate placement in freezer(s)
