One of Philadelphias top Early Childhood Education Centers is seeking a full:time Infant Teacher. Candidate must have a minimum of an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education (Bachelors preferred), along with two or more years experience in professional child care. Additionally, to be considered for this position, candidate must pass all required background checks and health screening, as well as providing two written references.
Description of Position:
The Infant Teacher is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well:being of all the children in his/her care, as well as for planning and delivering instruction, activities and interactions to meet the childrens learning and developmental needs. The teacher is responsible for helping develop a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day:to:day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand childrens cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. Teachers must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, resolve parental concerns, and effectively guide support staff and classroom visitors. This Position Reports to the Center Director.
Key Responsibilities:
: Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on
developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
: Plan individual and group age:appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage
social, cognitive and emotional growth.
: Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports,
and parent:teacher conferences.
: Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
: Ensure a safe and healthy classroom environment at all times :: including maintaining appropriate hygiene and
cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
: Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
: Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience
: Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
: High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a
team environment.
: A strong understanding of child development.
: Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
: Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
: Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
Educational Requirements:
: Minimum of an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education (Bachelors preferred), or closely:related field of study.
Physical Requirements:
: Ability to consistently lift 35 pounds
Employment Type:
: Full Time (hourly) :: 40 hours per week
Wage Range:
: Commensurate with experience: 12 to 16 per hour + benefits (health, dental, vision, paid time off, life insurance, 401(k)
