Job Summary 13;
The Grant Writer will perform grant writing and management functions that will maximize essential support from external sponsors for the centers research, training and programmatic initiatives. The Grant Writer will provide expertise and support to a team of interdisciplinary faculty members. The Grant Writer will serve as the point person on each grant project, facilitating team communication, organizing the submission process, and providing writing, editing, project planning and budgeting services and expertise.
Job Responsibilities 13;
:Facilitation and Organization of grant submissions
:Act as the point person throughout the proposal preparation process to communicate information to and from research team members, sponsor, sponsored projects office, and research business manager; organize meetings and conference calls.
:Read and understand proposal requirements and develop plan for proposal completion including systematically collecting components (e.g. biosketches, letters of support, facilities descriptions, personnel information), determining timelines, and creating/maintaining collaborative workspaces
:For electronic submissions, upload all documents in correct format and ensure that all required elements are complete. Work with sponsored projects office to see through to submission. For paper submissions, compile all components and oversee sign:off, copying, collating and mailing of all required documents. Maintain database of funded grants for access by center faculty

2. Grant Writing
:Write all non:science grant sections, including facilities and resource descriptions, human subjects protection, project management, data security, organizational capabilities, budget justifications, draft letters of support, etc.
:Complete enrollment tables, compile and format references and appendices
:Compile above sections along with sections written by investigative team members (including sub:sites), ensure uniform document formatting, and oversee review and editing of entire document by team.

3. Grant Budgeting
:Communicate with PI to determine project needs. Gather personnel costs and contact other internal and external sources and vendors as needed to determine other project costs. If applicable, work with research purchasing office and clinical trials financial management team to determine costs.
:Develop preliminary budget and work with research business manager to formalize and place in correct format.
:Work with project team to revise as needed per grant funding limits.

4. Provide related grant writing support
:Identify new funding opportunities
:Create templates for commonly used grant components
:Maintain database of funded grants for access by center faculty 13;

:Required Education: Bachelors degree
Required Experience:
:Three years of professional experience in an academic or research institute or similar setting, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.
:Demonstrated experience working with grants, contracts and subcontracts. 13;

:Working knowledge of key practices, regulations, policies and procedures related to grants/contracts.

:Ability to prioritize, plan and execute multiple complicated and continuing grants in a timely manner.
:Ability to be professional, courteous and tactful in dealing with researchers, sponsors, research business managers and sponsored projects officers and to communicate clearly and effectively with all research partners. 13;
