The CPD educator owns and maintains the CHOP Central Processing education curriculum and its delivery to the staff. The CPD educator role is will coordinate all onboarding activities, administer education to new staff in conjunction with other departmental leaders. Ongoing education for new procedures, coordinating in:service with Vendors, and the development of new educational materials is a key function. The CPD Educator will be responsible for incorporating a variety of different education methods into the program including facilitated learning, online education, materials, job aides, videos, and other resources to improve retention and promote Quality execution within the Central Processing Department.:/h4: 13;
Job Responsibilities 13;
:Provide Departmental Sterile Process Education
:Conducts new employee orientation and schedules onboarding activities
:Administers central sterile processing education curriculum
:Conducts recurring education on existing processes based on need or timing
:Crafts new education based on best practices or changes in process
:Education Certification and Documentation : Educator is responsible for the maintenance of all training and education records as well as certification of skills and the consolidation of feedback from Qualified observers.
:Provides quality assurance assessments as deemed by the CPD annual QA program.
:Understand and Maintains current knowledge of the AAMI, OSHA, FDA, JCAHO policies and recommendations and how these impact the staffing and education programs
:Serves as a resource to the CPD staff, CPD Management, and all ancillary departments who perform decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization when necessary and participates in joint activities as directed by CPD leadership 13;
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations 13;
CRCST : Cert Reg Central Service Tech 13;
CSPDT : Cert SPD Technician 13;
CIS : Cert Instrument Specialist 13;
Required Education and Experience 13;
High School Diploma or GED equivalent:/h4:
Seven or more years of progressive experience in a Central Sterile environment
Preferred Education, Experience and Cert/Lic 13;
Bachelors degree preferred.
Additional Technical Requirements 13;
Familiarity with an Instrument Tracking System.:/h4:
Must be able to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
