Scope of Position:
Process Engineer that applies fundamental understanding of materials chemistry and engineering principles to develop melting process capability through scientific methodology.
Key objectives range from continuous improvement of existing processes, elevating process performance and interfacing with technology development.
:Melting system process set:up development, control and management to achieve key objectives.
:Develop and communicate engineering plans and progress.
:Design and manage process experimentation.
:Provide process engineering support to melting systems across all business locations.
:Use technical analysis and analytical results to improve and troubleshoot processes.
:Interface with Research and Development to facilitate, support or lead trials of new products, processes, and technology.
:Interface with Plant Engineering to facilitate the introduction of new processes, products, and technology into manufacturing.
:Lead or support process and technology migrations across manufacturing locations.
:Develop new technology to improve melting operations. New technology includes operational practices, raw materials, and process design.
Travel Requirements: Up to 25 : 50, travel is domestic and European. Typical travel duration may be 1 :2 weeks depending on project. However, it could be : 4 weeks for special projects.
:Office hours are typically 8AM:5PM, Monday : Friday
:Weekend work and/or travel is sometimes required.

Education / Experience:
:B.S. in Engineering required : Glass/Ceramic Science/Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
:3+ years relevant working experience
:Other engineering disciplines considered with strong glass/materials processing experience.
:Technically curious : seeks information needed to succeed in becoming a glass melting expert.
:Strong technical skills : understanding of materials science/chemistry to defect formation mechanisms, understanding of heat and mass transfer, understanding of materials thermodynamics and kinetics.
:Analytical skills : ability to use rigorous data analysis and distill into concise results.
